After reading blogs in Sajha.com I have come to conclusion that 9 out 10 Nepalese in US are either King haters or communists. Sad days have begun for Nepal. We will soon have Army, not Royal Nepla Army, our national anthem will change, our COUNTRIES NAME WILL CHANGE, AND NO KING!!!! WHAT SAD DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shame to all the Neplese who hate King!!!! Because we will lose the LAST HINDU KING FROM MOTHER EARTH. Shame to King haters, now Nepal's suffering time has started. Shame to all Nepalese who sent funds to Nepal to give money to communists. If Kama Thapa has been arrested for 14 kiings, then WHAT ABOUT THE TERRORIST PRACHANDA WHO HAS KILLED OVER 14,000 innocent Men Women & Children???? Shame to all King Haters and Shame to all terrorist maoists supporters. SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all, our desh is not murkha. we just happened to be unfortunate. i am not using anything to make myself feel better. if i watch the news everyday, does that mean i am after politics trying to share my vision wiht everyone? no ni hoina. no matter hwo much you hate politics, you will never be able to escape it. besdies, if i have a genuine interst in politics, why is that wrong? i may lack vision, but i am learning.

we have osama bin laden and we have countless suicide bombers in iraq and we have terrorist organizations, and we have hamas and we have naxalities and we have janjaweed and prachanda and baburam we have iran's president preparing nuclear weapons and ........... these are allll realities. because for the mere fact that they are realities, we should keep them, protect them, and respect them and we need them.

Read carefully. I said NONE OF THE EXAMPLES YOU GAVE ABOVE REPRESENT NEPAL OR NEPALESE. Can you even comprehend a simple sentence? The real question from your part should've been "why don't you consider these two jokers Nepali?"

well i don't care if u think they are jokers. they are still nepalis and if they are trying to live up to the ideologies rotting in history, welll they ahve fulll right to do so. it may be a dumb, downward sloping idea, but they are still nepalis and they ahve the right to express waht they belive in their agenda; i don't consider them jokers, i consider them traitors, nepalis nonetheless. so this is our reality --> infinite reasons why we should bring these two people to court and trial for justice, but since they are are our reality, killing people in the country side, do we just gracefully accept them? protect them?

Panas it is very difficult to cite an examplary leader in our country not because we have none but because we want a leader just like Raja Raam you know it is not possible. here is what one intelligent nepali woman once said : "Eventhough Grija, Makune ... may be corrupt, their institution is democracy which relies on the support of the people, mandate from the people. on the other hand King's institution is monarchy which relies on power of the army not the people. this one fact is good enough to side with the political leaders over king." hats off to her.

ifc123 you are right prithivi narayan chopped off noses and ears of women and man of kirtipur after (mind you!) conquering kirtipur. he had a grudge over kirtipurians b/c it took him several attemps and severe losses to take over and win it. (i think the famous kalu pade was killed in one of the battles with kirtipur) I used to feel so proud when i read those nepali bravery in the history book. to top it off my birth and prithivis birth is the same day (of course different year) which is poush 27. now knowing all the facts i now feel prithivi was just a imperialistic BADshah who dreamed to be the king of a grand country (which is fair for the king in those days) but to label his efforts of self-gratification as contributor to the unification of nepal is not correct eventhough the end result implies that. also we are not accounting several thousands warriors who lost their lives for this cause.

Bir Bhadra ji , Show me one good development in 10 years of democracy by the politicains, janta le gare neta haru bhutro ke gare.I am against this shah dynasty, but don't tell to Prithvi narayan shah, if he wouldn't have done may be u and I would have been indians, To me u look one pathetic guy who just want to support India. Whne u write do it in logic way, u don't have to go extreme way to show ur anti king even going after prithvi Nrarayan shah, behave ina educated way. no one is here supporter of kinG G but that doesn't mean u start writing against everyone.

I am for both King & Democracy. This way we can have check and balance over both Monarchy & Politicians. We do not need to copy our neighbour or any other western country. yes, King may or may not have corrupt. But let us not forget that since 1990 Nepal became the worst country. The maoists terrorists were miniscule in numbers during early 1990s after democracy. GP, Makune etc justsat on their arses and did nothing for remote regions starting from western Nepal. Prachanda and gang of terrorists knew that Hinduism is an obstacle to what he had planned 'revolution' and so he started from western Nepal. Reason, because at that time western Nepal people were not too much into Hinduism, this is fact. Well GP and all other rotten crook-poiliticians did nothing. Prachanda the number one terrorist with the help from Chinese & Indian commies was able to take adavntage of all the useless politicians. In remote regions no one except some NGOs visited the needy people. Here went the maoists terrorists and terrorised innocent men/women/children and now you know part of 'worst history of our peaceful Nepal'. Since mid 1990 to-date 14,000 innocent people were killed by Prachanda. HE MUST BE BROUGHT TO BOOKS. There is rumor in Nepal that he is going to give a speech in Tasikhel in two-weeks. WISH I WAS SOMEONE IN POWER, I WOULD HAVE SEEN TO IT THAT HE IS ARRESTED & HANGED PUBLICLY. LET US NOT USE BAD WORDS, LET US SHOW TO NON-NEPALESE WHO READ OUR BLOGS THAT WE CAN ARGUE IN A DECENT MANNER. I HOPE AT-LEAST ONE NEPALESES BROTHER OR SISTER AGREES WITH MY VIEWS THAT WE NEED BOTH KING & DEMOCRACY. The only problem for democracy in Nepal is that literacy rate is only 40%. Therefore, I wish to Pashupatinath that no one exploits the innocent men, women & children of Nepal in name of 'democracy'. It is my view that without King checking the politicians and vice-versa Nepal will be in big trouble. This is, once again, my personal opinion. Let us argue decently. Let there be peace once again in Nepal.

Well nepal came into existence because of prithivi's ambition. but at the cost of what? Nepal basically became a country of bahun and chettri. what about he indigeneous people they have lost their language their culture and identity. i am not questioning prithivis contribution in uniting nepal. however i refuse to credit him as a national hero or what ever. royals are scumbags . if you love prithivi i have no problem with that however it is not going to stop me from speaking out the truth. he did do all the things i have listed above. go ask kirtipurians. how he cut noses of the brave fighting kirtipurian women because he couldn't win them easily.
