Devkota had the ability to write poems very quickly—he wrote the
Shakuntal in three months, the Sulochana epic in 10 days and Kunjini in
a single night. Nepali poetry soared to new heights with Devkota's
groundbreaking poetry. "Muna-Madan," a long narrative poem in popular
folk metre, begins the end of the Sanskrit tradition in Nepali
literature. "पागल" (translated in English as "The Lunatic") is another
of his ground-breaking works.

Devkota's youngest son lives in New Zealand while his oldest son and 4 daughters still live in Kathmandu, Nepal.

लाज त सबैलाई लाग्नु पर्ने हो; महाकबी देवकोटाको नाममा दुनियाँ कोश र समिती खडा गरेर आफुलाई देवकोटाप्रेमी र नेपाली भाषाप्रेमी देखाउने, अनी बर्षमा एक दिन देवकोटा जयन्ती आयोजना गरेर देवकोटाको बारेमा लम्बाचौडा बखान छाट्ने नेपाली भाषाका ठेकेदारहरुलाई; भाषा, साहित्य र संस्कृतिको बिकास र संरक्षण गर्ने दायित्व लिएर सरकारी कुर्सिमा बसेका ठालु हाकिमहरुलाई; नेपाली भाषाका कति पाठकहरुले मन पराएर ख्याती कमाएका र कति चाँही कनिकुथी र चोरेर साहित्य लेखी संचारका माध्यमहरुमा आफ्नो भक्तीगान गाउँन लगाएर बनेका ठुला साहित्यकारहरुलाई; पढेलेखेका भनाउँदा र नेपाली भाषा साहित्यलाई माया गर्छु भन्ने र नेपाली भाषाको बिषयमा घण्टौ भए नभएको गफ दिन सक्ने हामी जस्तो जानिफकारहरुलाई। बरु देवकोटानै आफ्नो दुर्दशा देखेर लजाए होलान्, तर हामी कसैलाई त्यो देखेर लाज लाग्दैन; त्यसैले त हामी लाजपचेका हौ। यदी लाज नपचेका भए त अबस्य पनि हामीले केही गर्न पर्थ्यो र गर्थ्यौ होला, तर हामी गर्दैनौ। हामीले यो सबै कुरा बुझेका छौ, तर पनि बुझ्दैनौ; त्यसैले त हामी बुझपचेका हौ।   

 

ठिक भन्नु भयो Geology Tiger  जी हामी केहि गरेर खादैनौ , एदी माहा कबि जी अरु राष्ट्र मा जन्मनु भाको भए संसार मा कमै हुन्थीय होलान जसले उहालाई नचिनेको ..तर मह कबि को दुर्भाग्य  , नेपाल मा जन्मनु भयो .. i am sad yaar

While we're at it, one thing that really irks me about Kathmandu is the lack of public restrooms around the city. Bloody hell, even the public restrooms that charge you money for their usages are filthy.

Whatever did happen to Ex-Mayor Keshab Sthapit's plans of building a number of public restrooms around the valley.

I want to share a story with you guys while i was in Kathmandu. I never used public place or park as a toilet in Kathmandu. But one day, i did and i still remember that day. म Newroad मा shopping  गर्न गएको थिए । मलाई मुत्र त्याग गर्नु थियो । मैले सके सम्म सहेर बसे । घर गएर गर्छु भनेर । तर सकिन । एउटा पसल मा गएर सोधे - टोइलेट use गर्न पौछु भनेर । साहु ले  छैन भन्यो । अनी एउटा होटेल मा गएर सोधे । होटेल मा पनि टोइलेट रहेनछ । भएर पनि छैन भनेको हो कि ? अनी अब आपत नै पर्न लाग्यो । डौडेर गये टुदिखेल् को छेउ मा अनी तुर्काएँ । A lot of people were passing by while i was peeing , i was embarrased but i had to do it. And whenever i saw anybody making any park a toilet, i remebered my day.
